Shell petrol station Bomaderry open for influx of motorists over Christmas, New Year period

Have you noticed signs of life at the Shell service station on the Princes Highway, Bomaderry?

One of the largest petrol stations in the Shoalhaven is due to open on Wednesday.

This morning, the company was awaiting clearance from Shoalhaven City Council, and was hoping for a signed occupancy certificate by 12pm.

The service station will be staffed 24 hours per day.

Developer Ben Isaac expects the service station will experience a strong demand from customers – once the Albion Park Rail bypass is finished, it will be the final northbound fuel stop on the highway before motorists reach Sydney.

Eighteen filling stations have been built –  most under the main canopy and six under the high-flow truck canopy. Within the site, 21 parking spaces are provided including one disabled space.

“It’s looking really good,” Mr Isaac said.

Early news the service station was being constructed attracted some criticism from South Coast Register readers, who were of the opinion there are enough fuel facilities in the northern Shoalhaven.

However, Mr Isaac said Shell had picked a gap in the market, providing much-needed facilities for transport companies.

“We’ve built a separate diesel canopy, with high-flow diesel including AdBlue,” Mr Isaac said.

“It should help the short supply of major trucking facilities in the area.”

The site has room for more businesses.

The Bridgestone Tyre Centre development application has been approved, and the developer has returned to council with an amendment to the plans – intending to build a carwash.

A number of applications for fast food and coffee outlets lodged with council remain under assessment.

It is understood Dominoes, Red Rooster and Gloria Jeans could be part of the next stage of development.

“It’ll be a great rest stop,” Mr Isaac said.
